Our programs blend the philosophy and principles of Dr. Maria Montessori with hands-on practice, giving future educators the confidence to guide children with joy and purpose.
For nearly five decades, our coursework has supported generations of teachers on their Montessori journey. Whether you are beginning your path or seeking to deepen your practice, we are here to support your growth, nurture your passion, and prepare you to make a lasting difference for children and families.
Our mission is to prepare and inspire Montessori educators who embody the values of respect, curiosity, and lifelong learning. Rooted in authentic Montessori philosophy, we provide comprehensive training that integrates academic study, hands-on experience, and reflective practice. We are dedicated to fostering educators who can nurture the full potential of every child, honor diversity, and bring the spirit of Montessori into communities around the world.
We envision a world where every child is guided by compassionate, knowledgeable, and inspired Montessori educators. By cultivating excellence in teacher preparation, we aim to shape learning environments that foster independence, peace, and a deep respect for humanity and the natural world. Our graduates will serve as leaders and advocates who carry forward Dr. Montessori’s legacy, transforming education and communities for generations to come.
The Montessori Center for Teacher Education is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and welcoming community for all students, faculty, and staff. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, sex, marital or family status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or any other status protected by law.
The Montessori Method was developed over 100 years ago by Dr. Maria Montessori, Italy’s first female physician. Through careful observation of children, she discovered that when given freedom within a thoughtfully prepared environment, children are naturally eager to learn, explore, and develop independence.
Dr. Montessori opened her first school, the Casa dei Bambini (“Children’s House”), in Rome in 1907. Her innovative approach spread quickly across the world and has continued to inspire educators, parents, and children for generations.
Today, the Montessori Method is practiced in thousands of schools worldwide. At its heart, it nurtures each child’s curiosity, creativity, and love of learning—values that remain just as relevant now as they were over a century ago.
