Admissions

Start your Montessori teacher training journey at the Montessori Center for Teacher Education (MCTE). Our admissions process is designed to guide adult learners from inquiry to enrollment with personal support every step of the way.

Admission Process

MCTE welcomes applications year-round for our accredited Early Childhood, Elementary I, and Elementary I–II Montessori Teacher Training Programs.

Our process includes:

  1. Submit your application using our online form.
    Early Childhood Application or Elementary Application
  2. Schedule an interview and tour with the Program Director –
    karino@countrymontessori.org or (858) 673-1756.
  3. Sign your Enrollment Agreement upon acceptance.

Admission Policies & Criteria for Enrollment

Early Childhood Program

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university will be recommended for an AMS Early Childhood Credential.
  • Applicants without a bachelor’s degree will be recommended for an AMS Associate Early Childhood Credential. Once a bachelor’s degree is later earned, this credential can be upgraded to a full AMS Early Childhood Credential.

Elementary I and Elementary I–II Programs

  • A minimum of 60 college units is required to enroll in the Academic Component for credential credit.
  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution (or an equivalent) is required for admission into the Practicum and for recommendation to AMS for the full Elementary Credential.
  • Applicants with only a high school diploma may audit the Academic Component only (no practicum). Regular tuition and fees apply.
  • Official transcripts verifying the highest level of education completed must be submitted before recommendation to AMS.

Additional Admissions Information

  • MCTE has no articulation or transfer agreements with other colleges or universities.
  • The Center does not grant credit for prior experiential learning.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.
  • All coursework is conducted in English. Applicants must demonstrate English reading and writing proficiency through a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or equivalent language exam such as the TOEFL. English language instruction (e.g., ESL) is not provided by MCTE.
